Description
The internal combustion engine cooling pump is the core component of the engine cooling system, which is mainly used for circulating coolant to control the operating temperature of the engine. It is driven by the engine crankshaft and turns with the rotation of the crankshaft, which drives the coolant to circulate between the engine and the radiator.
The internal structure of the cooling pump mainly includes impeller, pump shell and bearing components. When the cooling pump starts to work, the impeller rotates under the drive of the pump shaft, generating centrifugal force to draw the coolant from the water intake, and then transported through the pump housing to the cooling channel of the engine. In this process, the coolant absorbs and carries away the heat generated by the engine, which then flows to the radiator, releasing the heat into the external environment. In this way, the cooling water pump achieves continuous cooling of the engine, ensuring that the engine operates at the right temperature.
The structural design of the cooling pump needs to meet the overall layout requirements of the engine, which may lead to the flow path of the water in and out, the shape and section of the cochlear chamber, and the layout of the inlet and outlet of the pump are difficult to fully meet the hydraulic design requirements, thus affecting the operating performance to a certain extent. In addition, the inlet chamber structure of the cooling pump is usually divided into straight barrel type or spiral shape, while the outlet chamber structure is spiral shape and integrated with the engine casting.
In order to ensure the normal operation of the cooling pump, it is necessary to maintain and check it regularly. This includes checking the pump body and pulley for wear or damage, checking the wear of bearings, and checking whether the blades on the impeller are broken. If any problem is found, it should be repaired or replaced in time.
When the cooling water pump fails, it can cause poor water flow and raise the engine temperature. Common causes include pump bearing wear, blade deformation and so on. Therefore, keeping the cooling water pump in good condition is essential to ensure the normal operation of the engine.
